XP - HF2 - Elliptical High Frequency FMF Wireless Search Coil:
The XP HF2 Elliptical High Frequency FMF Wireless Search Coil is XP's specialized high-frequency coil designed for exceptional sensitivity to small targets, low-conductive targets, gold nuggets, fine jewelry, and difficult targets in mineralized ground.
Featuring a compact 9.5" x 5" / 24 x 13 cm elliptical design, the HF2 combines excellent maneuverability and target separation with an exceptionally broad frequency range reaching all the way to 120 kHz.
Unlike XP's standard FMF coils, which emphasize all-purpose treasure hunting, the HF2 is optimized for situations where small-target sensitivity and high-frequency performance matter most.
For gold prospectors, relic hunters working heavy iron, and detectorists searching difficult terrain where larger coils struggle, the HF2 is one of the most specialized search coils available in XP's FMF ecosystem.
FMF® Fast Multi-Frequency Technology
The HF2 utilizes XP's advanced FMF – Fast Multi-Frequency technology.
Rather than being limited to a traditional single-frequency high-frequency coil, the HF2 combines XP's simultaneous multi-frequency architecture with an exceptionally broad range of selectable operating frequencies.
This allows the coil to maintain the versatility of the XP FMF ecosystem while dramatically expanding high-frequency capability.
Extreme High-Frequency Performance
The defining feature of the HF2 is its frequency range.
The HF2 can operate at frequencies reaching approximately:
120 kHz
This is substantially higher than XP's standard FMF search coils.
Higher frequencies can provide exceptional sensitivity to extremely small and low-conductive targets that may produce weaker responses at lower operating frequencies.
This makes the HF2 particularly well suited for:
-
Gold nuggets
-
Very small gold
-
Fine jewelry
-
Thin chains
-
Small earrings
-
Tiny relics
-
Small hammered coins
-
Low-conductive targets
-
Small metallic targets
Designed for Gold Prospecting
The HF2 is one of the most interesting XP coils for electronic gold prospecting.
Small natural gold can be extremely difficult for conventional coin and relic detectors to detect.
The HF2's extremely high-frequency capability increases sensitivity to small and low-conductive targets, making it particularly useful when searching for:
-
Small gold nuggets
-
Specimen gold
-
Gold in exposed bedrock
-
Small gold trapped in cracks
-
Gold around old workings
-
Small targets in mineralized ground
-
Gold around quartz outcrops
-
Gold in shallow washes and dry placers
For prospectors using an XP FMF detector, the HF2 provides a much more specialized gold-oriented search coil than XP's standard 9", 11", and 13" x 11" FMF coils.
9.5" x 5" Elliptical Design
The HF2 measures approximately:
9.5" x 5" / 24 x 13 cm
The narrow elliptical footprint provides excellent access to areas where larger round coils struggle.
This makes the HF2 particularly effective around:
-
Bedrock cracks
-
Exposed bedrock
-
Rocks
-
Boulders
-
Tree roots
-
Brush
-
Creek beds
-
Narrow washes
-
Steep terrain
-
Old foundations
-
Tight spaces
For prospecting, the narrow design allows you to work closer to exposed bedrock and between rocks where small nuggets can be hiding.
Excellent Target Separation
The HF2's narrow detection footprint provides outstanding target separation.
When multiple metallic objects are located close together, a smaller coil analyzes less ground at one time.
This can make it easier to distinguish a desirable target from surrounding iron and trash.
The HF2 is therefore an excellent choice for:
-
Heavy iron
-
Old mining camps
-
Ghost towns
-
Cellar holes
-
Old home sites
-
Trashy parks
-
Historic settlements
-
Relic sites
Excellent in Heavy Iron
Historic sites can contain enormous concentrations of nails and other ferrous debris.
The HF2's narrow footprint combined with XP's fast recovery characteristics allows the detectorist to carefully work between unwanted iron targets.
This makes the HF2 particularly attractive for searching old mining camps and other historic locations where both small gold and historic relics may be present.
Excellent for Fine Jewelry
The same high-frequency sensitivity that makes the HF2 effective for small natural gold also makes it highly capable of detecting small jewelry.
Potential targets include:
-
Thin gold chains
-
Small earrings
-
Fine rings
-
Small pendants
-
Broken jewelry
-
Small gold items
-
Low-conductive jewelry
This makes the HF2 useful beyond prospecting, particularly when searching areas where small jewelry losses are common.
Excellent for Difficult Terrain
The narrow elliptical design is especially useful in rough terrain.
Larger search coils can have difficulty maintaining a consistent distance from the ground when detecting over rocks, roots, uneven bedrock, or steep hillsides.
The HF2's compact footprint makes it easier to keep the coil close to the surface.
This is particularly useful for:
-
Mountain prospecting
-
Desert washes
-
Creek beds
-
Exposed bedrock
-
Rocky hillsides
-
Old mine sites
-
Brush-covered terrain
Fully Wireless FMF Coil
Like XP's other FMF search coils, the HF2 contains its own electronics and wireless communication system.
There is no conventional coil cable running up the detector shaft.
The coil communicates wirelessly with the compatible XP controller.
This keeps the detector exceptionally clean and lightweight while eliminating a traditional coil cable.
Rechargeable Battery System
The HF2 incorporates its own rechargeable battery system.
Because the coil contains the electronics necessary for XP's wireless detection architecture, it operates independently from the detector Remote's battery.
Simply recharge the coil as part of your normal XP detector charging routine.
Waterproof Construction
The HF2 is designed for demanding outdoor detecting conditions and can be used in wet environments.
This makes it suitable for applications including:
-
Creek prospecting
-
River detecting
-
Wet bedrock
-
Beaches
-
Shallow water
-
Freshwater environments
-
Wet and muddy terrain
When operating an XP wireless coil completely underwater, the appropriate XP underwater antenna/waveguide system may be required because radio-frequency communication does not effectively travel through water.
