Private Guided Gold Prospecting Adventure:
Real gold. Real ground. Real prospecting.
Join Heritage Gold Rush for a private, hands-on gold prospecting adventure in California Gold Country. Spend approximately 6 hours in the field learning and practicing the techniques modern prospectors use to locate and recover natural placer gold.
Every trip is different. Your experience will be customized around your goals, previous experience, physical ability, current field conditions, and the prospecting techniques you're most interested in learning.
Whether you want to become a more capable prospector, learn how to read gold-bearing ground, improve your recovery techniques, or simply experience the excitement of searching for natural gold, we'll build the trip around what you want to accomplish.
Please contact Heritage Gold Rush before purchasing to confirm availability and discuss your trip. Call or text Cody at 916-833-7178 or email cody@heritagegoldrush.com.
This Is Real Gold Prospecting
This is not a pay-dirt or tourist-style gold panning experience.
You'll be prospecting natural, potentially gold-bearing ground and learning the same techniques used by prospectors in the field.
Rather than simply handing you material known to contain gold, we'll teach you how to evaluate the ground, recognize natural gold traps, identify potentially productive areas, and use proven prospecting techniques to recover whatever natural gold the location has to offer.
The goal isn't simply to help you find gold for a day. It's to help you leave as a more knowledgeable and capable prospector.
Your Prospecting Adventure
Each outing is customized around the individual or group rather than following a predetermined itinerary.
Depending on your interests, experience, location, season, and field conditions, your adventure may involve gold panning, sluicing, crevicing, bedrock prospecting, high banking, sniping, or underwater prospecting.
Along the way, we'll cover subjects such as reading rivers and placer deposits, recognizing potential gold traps and pay streaks, sampling and evaluating ground, properly setting up prospecting equipment, and improving your gold recovery techniques.
You don't need to know exactly what you want to do before booking. We'll discuss your experience, interests, and goals beforehand and design an outing that makes sense for you.
The Standard 6-Hour Experience
The standard Private Guided Gold Prospecting Adventure includes approximately 6 hours in the field.
Your trip includes private hands-on instruction, access to a selected potentially gold-bearing location, use of the necessary prospecting equipment, and guidance tailored to your experience level.
Six hours gives us enough time to explore the area, discuss why we're prospecting where we are, demonstrate techniques, and still leave plenty of time for you to actually prospect.
Actual duration may vary slightly depending on weather, water levels, accessibility, and other field conditions. Extended or specialized outings may also be available upon request.
Pricing
The standard 6-Hour Private Guided Gold Prospecting Adventure starts at $449.
1 Participant — $449
2 Participants — $549
3 Participants — $649
4 Participants — $749
Pricing is for the entire group, not per person, and includes approximately six hours in the field, instruction, access to the selected prospecting location, and use of the necessary prospecting equipment.
Additional charges may apply for extended outings, particularly remote locations, significant additional travel, groups larger than four, or other specialized requests. Any additional costs will always be discussed and agreed upon before booking.
Equipment Is Included
You don't need to own prospecting equipment to participate.
Heritage Gold Rush will provide the equipment necessary for the planned outing. Depending on the activities, this may include gold pans, classifiers, snuffer bottles, sluice boxes, high bankers, crevicing tools, pry bars, and other specialized prospecting equipment.
You're also welcome to bring your own equipment.
If you'd like your own equipment to keep after the trip, gold pans, classifiers, snuffer bottles, sluice boxes, and other prospecting supplies are available for purchase separately from Heritage Gold Rush.
Sniping & Underwater Prospecting
When conditions are appropriate, some outings may include snorkeling or underwater sniping.
Participants choosing an underwater prospecting experience are responsible for providing their own properly fitting mask, snorkel, and wetsuit. Any additional requirements will be discussed before the trip.
What You Should Bring
While the prospecting equipment is provided, you should arrive prepared for a full day outdoors.
Bring appropriate clothing and footwear for the expected conditions, gloves, sunscreen, sunglasses, bug spray, food, plenty of drinking water, and any personal medications or necessities.
Once we determine where we're going and what we'll be doing, we'll give you more specific recommendations before the trip.
Choosing the Location
There is no single predetermined location used for every adventure.
The location is selected based on current prospecting conditions, season, water levels, weather, accessibility, your experience and physical abilities, the techniques you'd like to learn, and travel considerations.
Some locations are relatively easy to access. More advanced outings may involve hiking into remote areas or navigating steep, rocky, wet, or uneven terrain.
The exact meeting location and trip details will be provided before your scheduled outing.
Safety & Physical Requirements
Gold prospecting is an outdoor activity and can be physically demanding. Depending on the location, participants may encounter moving water, slippery rocks, uneven terrain, steep slopes, heat, cold water, wildlife, submerged obstacles, and remote areas where emergency services may not be immediately available.
For everyone's safety, Heritage Gold Rush reserves the right to determine whether a particular location or activity is appropriate based on participant experience and physical ability, weather, water levels, accessibility, and current field conditions.
Heritage Gold Rush carries basic first-aid supplies, secondary water filtration, and a Garmin satellite rescue device for emergency situations.
All participants will be required to review and sign an assumption-of-risk and liability waiver before participating.
Heritage Gold Rush may also modify, relocate, postpone, or cancel an outing when weather, water conditions, wildfire conditions, access restrictions, or other circumstances make the planned activity unsafe or impractical.
Gold Is Never Guaranteed
Finding gold is the goal—but gold is never guaranteed.
Heritage Gold Rush will make every reasonable effort to select locations and techniques that provide a genuine opportunity to recover natural gold. However, prospecting depends on natural deposits and constantly changing field conditions, so no guarantee can be made regarding the amount of gold—or whether any gold—will be recovered.
Our goal is for you to leave with something you can use long after the trip: the knowledge and practical skills to become a better prospector.
And, of course, we hope you leave with some natural California gold in your pocket too.
